Management of Diverticular Disease is one of the services our team has been offering to patients in Perth since the launch of our Gut Clinic in Nedlands and Murdoch.
Diverticular Disease Diet
What is Diverticular Disease?
Diverticular Disease is when diverticula (small pockets) form in the wall of the gastrointestinal track (mostly large bowel). The cause of diverticular disease is not well understood, although genetics, diet, age-related changes and the gut micro-biome may play a role.

How is Diverticular Disease diagnosed?
Unless diverticula are acutely inflamed (i.e. diverticulitis), diverticula are usually found incidentally during colonoscopy, barium enema, MRI or abdominal CT. Diverticulitis is suspected in people with abdominal pain and a known history of diverticulosis.
